Pastor Phil and Denise Roop
Lead Pastors
Born and raised in a pastor’s home, Phil’s heart for connecting with people is huge! Denise grew up as a ‘military brat’, her family traveling throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. Pastor Phil is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and has been in ministry for over 30 years. Together, Phil and Denise love God, love people, and love the vision God has placed in their hearts to equip God’s people to impact the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! They served as Bethel’s youth pastors from 1989-1996 and returned to lead our Bethel family in April of 2005. The Roops have three children, a handsome son-in-law, two beautiful daughters-in-law, and a growing number of adorable grandchildren!
Pastor John and Kelly Bechtel
Bethel Kids Pastors
John worked at Adult & Teen Challenge for nine years before he and Kelly joined Bethel in April 2018. He is a credentialed minister with the Assemblies of God. Kelly ministered to children for 17 years in New Jersey before marrying John in 2014, and she is excited to be back in kids ministry! They have four beautiful children. Their mission statement is, “Giving kids the Message of trust in Jesus, Modeling it, and Mentoring them.” Their vision is to see kids Accept Christ and become Powerful in Prayer, Responsive in Worship, Spirit Empowered, Biblically Fluent, Actively Serving, Bold in Faith, Giving Selflessly, and Living like Christ!
Pastor Brandon and Angie McNair
Associate Pastors
Pastor Brandon & Angie McNair have had the privilege and honor to be associate pastors at Bethel Assembly since February 2023. The McNairs have been married for 15 years and together they have two amazing children: Gia, 14, and Kayden, 10.
The McNairs love to be outdoors, play board games, and simply put…they just like to have fun!

Pastor Danny Wilson
Element Student Ministries Pastor
Danny "P.D." earned his bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University. Pastor Danny is also an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. Pastor Danny has served in full-time ministry at Bethel A/G for over 20 years. His vision is to empower teenagers to find their God-given purpose and to teach them the Word of God so they will desire to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Pastor Dave and Edie Meade
Associate Pastor
Pastor Dave is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He has two sons, two daughters-in-law, and the world’s three greatest grandchildren. David joined the Bethel staff in October of 2012 working with Fun+, Men’s Ministry, and wherever needed.
Pastor Laurie and Tom White
Chaffee Campus Pastor
Pastor Laurie and Tom have a real heart for loving their communities. Laurie, an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, grew up in a small rural church; Tom was the product of a church bus ministry. As Christian high school sweethearts, Laurie was called by God into ministry, while Tom was directed by the Lord to Cape Girardeau for employment in the electronics industry. Married when she was 18 years of age, Laurie earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from SEMO University. She and Tom are church planters for our Bethel Chaffee Campus. Pastor Laurie and Tom are also well known for their love of the Southeast Missouri recovery community; Laurie serves as CEO of Empower Life Community Services Inc, which provides recovery services within The Gathering Place on the Bethel Chaffee Campus. Pastor Laurie also currently serves as Co-Coordinator for MO School of Ministry Cape Campus at Bethel.
